The acquisition of centre Matt Duchene might not be the only move the Columbus Blue Jackets make ahead of Monday’s 3pm ET trade deadline.

On Friday morning, the Blue Jackets acquired Duchene from the Ottawa Senators in a blockbuster deal, and it appears they are in now in the market for help on the backend.

According to multiple reports, Blue Jackets GM Jarmo Kekalainen is looking to add a strong, physical defenceman.

It’s unclear whom the Blue Jackets are actively pursuing, but the team could have interest in the likes of New York Rangers rearguard Adam McQuaid or New Jersey Devils blueliner Ben Lovejoy, among others.

Meanwhile, Kekalainen remains firm that if he does not receive an offer that knocks his socks off for left wing Artemi Panarin, he’s comfortable holding on to time past the deadline.

Panarin is set to become an unrestricted free agent July 1 and all signs point to him testing the market this summer.
