The New York Rangers have traded captain Ryan McDonagh and forward J.T. Miller to the Tampa Bay Lightning in exchange for forward Vladislav Namestnikov, centre Brett Howden, defenceman Libor Hajek, a 2018 first-round draft pick and a conditional second-round draft pick.

McDonagh, 28, picked up two goals and 24 assists for 26 points in 49 games with the Rangers this season.

The native of St. Paul, Minnesota, has played in 516 career NHL regular-season games, to date, with the Rangers and has accumulated 51 goals and 187 assists for 238 points and 221 penalty minutes.

He was originally drafted 12th overall by the Montreal Canadiens in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.
