MAROON, LETESTU COULD HEAD EAST
Patrick Maroon, winger
Edmonton Oilers GM Peter Chiarelli is expected active on the trade front, speaking with teams about a number of his players, including pending unrestricted free agent forwards Patrick Maroon and Mark Letestu.
Several teams have expressed interest in both players, and one rival team executive told TFP the chances of them heading to the Eastern Conference appear to be strong.
While it’s too early to guarantee whether either forward ends up, if moved, there seems to be considerable interest in teams in the East, including the Pittsburgh Penguins, who have been eyeing both players.
Maroon, 29, comes with a $1.5 million salary cap hit, while the 33-year-old Letestu has a $1.8 million cap hit.
The Los Angeles Kings and Anaheim Ducks have also been linked to Maroon, as have the Philadelphia Flyers, Tampa Bay Lightning, Boston Bruins and Columbus Blue Jackets.
Letestu currently sits at No.17 on TFP’s Top 30 Available Players List, while Maroon ranks fifth.
