BLUE JACKETS ACQUIRE VANEK FROM CANUCKS

The Columbus Blue Jackets have acquired left wing Thomas Vanek from the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for centre Tyler Motte and right wing Jussi Jokinen.

 

Vanek, 34, registered 17 goals and 24 assists for 41 points in 61 games with the Canucks this season.

 

In 946 career NHL regular-season games with the Buffalo Sabres, New York Islanders, Montreal Canadiens, Minnesota Wild, Detroit Red Wings, Florida Panthers and Canucks, Vanek has accumulated 350 goals and 388 assists for 738 points.

 

Vanek was selected fifth-overall by the Sabres in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.
