The Calgary Flames and Buffalo Sabres are believed to have had some trade talks over the last few weeks, though it’s unclear if any trade is imminent.

The two teams have been scouting each other lately, prompting speculation that a trade could be coming, at some point, between them.

It has been widely reported that the Sabres are open for business, with Buffalo management willing to listen to calls on every player not named Jack Eichel. The likes of Evander Kane, Benoit Pouliot, Sam Reinhart, Josh Gorges, Robin Lehner and Chad Johnson have recently popped up in trade speculation, as a result.

The Sabres are looking to retool for next season, as the club sits last in the Eastern Conference with a 7-17-5 record.

Calgary GM Brad Treliving has been exploring the market for depth up front, while some reports suggest he’s willing to tinker with his defensive corps.
