The Ottawa Senators have avoided salary arbitration with star winger Mark Stone, signing him to a one-year, $7.35 million contract.

Stone, 26, was tied for the Senators’ team lead in scoring last season, registering 20 goals and a career-high 42 assists for 62 points in just 58 games.

In 307 career NHL regular-season games, all with the Senators, Stone has accumulated 95 goals and 154 assists for 249 points and 93 penalty minutes.

The Winnipeg native was drafted by the Senators in the sixth-round, 178th overall, of the 2010 NNHL Draft.

Stone will be eligible to become an unrestricted free agent next summer and cannot sign an extension until Jan. 1, 2019, at the earliest.
