The Quebec franchise of the World Hockey Association have named Martin Madden their General Manager for the inaugural WHA season
Madden, who has over 30 years of hockey experience, was appointed by team owner Jean-Paul Boily.
"His overall experience in the hockey world and his ties to Quebec made Martin our number one candidate," said Boily. "This announcement initiates a very busy time in the Quebec organization and should start a long and prosperous journey for this franchise."
A former assistant general manager and scout with the Montreal Canadiens, Madden was also with the Quebec Nordiques of the NHL for ten seasons and was a scout with the New York Rangers.
Prior to that he spent five years with NHL Central Scouting. He was also the General Manager of the Quebec Remparts of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.
"I'm accepting the challenge to build this Quebec team into a major force in professional hockey in not only the province but the entire league," said Madden. "I've really enjoyed the past few months working with the ownership group in recruiting the type of player who will make our team unique. This team will truly represent Quebecers and give our fans a true identity."
