The Detroit Gladiators starting things off last week when they unveiled their name and logo.
Today, Halifax owners John Marshall and Gino Naldini announced the team name, logo and colors of the newest professional hockey team in the Maritimes.
The Halifax "IceBreakers" will begin play in late October in the new World Hockey Association.
The IceBreakers team colors will be silver, Maritime blue and dark green.
WHA Commissioner Bobby Hull and Director of Hockey Operations Peter Young were joined by District Six (Westphal-Waverly) Councillor Brian Warshick and Scott Ferguson, Vice-President, Operations of Trade Centre Limited at a Media Conference in Halifax to make the announcements.
Marshall indicated that the team is in the final stages of contract negotiations with a General Manager and Head Coach – both of whom have significant NHL experience and a tie to Halifax.
Earlier this week, Boston Bruins free agent Glen Murray of Halifax was the territorial draftee of the IceBreakers.
