Top 25 Available Players
As of Mar. 2, 2015 :: 5:00pm ET

With the NHL trade deadline quickly approaching (Mar. 2, 2015), TFP has outlined 25 of the top names rumored to be available for trade through various newspapers, radio and television reports, cyberspace and our own league-wide sources. Last season, 15 of the 25 players listed were traded; the season before that saw 14 of the 25 listed dealt, and three seasons ago, 17 of the 25 players listed were moved.

As part of TFP's Trade Deadline Coverage, this page will be updated regularly and TFP's panel of experts will outline the values of each athlete. As the days inch closer to the deadline, some players may climb or fall off the list, while others may be added. Teams reportedly showing interest will also be added and adjusted as more information becomes available.

Teams Reportedly Showing Interest Status
Antoine Vermette, LW/C
Cap Hit: $3.75M | Term Left: 0 | Age: 32

Vermette is tremendously coveted, as he's unlikely to sign a new deal with the Coyotes. Arizona is looking to trade him and wants a first-round pick and a solid prospect packaged in return. Some teams are holding out hope the asking price drops, but others are inching closer to pitching a suitable offer well before the deadline arrives.

Mats Zuccarello, RW
Cap Hit: $3.5M | Term Left: 0 | Age: 27

The Rangers can't seem to make much traction on contract negotiations with Zuccarello, and as a result, the team has been fielding calls for him for the past week.

Trade talks appear to have picked up, and if a new contract isn't reached, he's expected to be moved.

Patrick Sharp, RW
Cap Hit: $5.9M | Term Left: 2 | Age: 33

Noise keeps getting louder, as the trade deadline approaches, over Chicago taking calls for Sharp. There appears to be considerable interest in him, as the club looks to maneuver the salary cap, even with Patrick Kane out for the season. Chicago wants to bring in a top-six forward and is expected to before the deadline.

Not traded
Dion Phaneuf, D
Cap Hit: $7M | Term Left: 6 | Age: 29

It's going to take a significant trade for the Leafs to move captain Phaneuf, but teams have inquired about his availability. Unless the Maple Leafs bring back a player with a large contract, they might be forced to eat part of his salary, if they move him. The Leafs will want to replace his minutes on the blueline, but it might not necessarily happen in the same deal.

Not traded
Keith Yandle, D
Cap Hit: $5.25M | Term Left: 1 | Age: 28

Yandle's name has popped up several times over the years, as a number of teams have tried to pluck him away from the Coyotes. It seems as if a deal is likely, at some point, though a trade could happen in the summer, as opposed to before the deadline. The Coyotes will want a big return, though, and teams must be prepared to pay up for Yandle.

Ryan O'Reilly, C
Cap Hit: $6M | Term Left: 1 | Age: 24

It has become clear that the Avalanche will trade O'Reilly at some point -- either before the deadline or in the summer. The Avs would like to keep him, but they also want to improve in other areas and you have to give in order to get. Ideally, Colorado would like to move O'Reilly for a young, stud defenseman.

Not traded
Tyler Bozak, C
Cap Hit: $4.2M | Term Left: 3 | Age: 28

The Maple Leafs don't have to trade Bozak, but that doesn't mean they won't entertain offers. He's available, but the Leafs will only move him in a talent-for-talent trade. Toronto wants an upgrade at the center position and they're hoping packaging Bozak with other assets will get them what they're after.

Not traded
Jeff Petry, D
Cap Hit: $3.075M | Term Left: 0 | Age: 27

Petry will be traded by the deadline, that much is certain. He was almost dealt earlier in the season, but a trade fell through.

The Oilers are looking for a couple of draft picks for Petry, or a high-end prospect as part of a deal.

Joffrey Lupul, LW/RW
Cap Hit: $5.25M | Term Left: 3 | Age: 31

The Maple Leafs were quietly shopping Lupul for several weeks, but the cat seems to be out of the bag. He's been dangled for a while and a few clubs have reportedly shown serious interest in him. He just recently returned from another injury -- his health is a concern for many teams -- and could be on the move by the March 2 trade deadline.

Not traded
Braydon Coburn, D
Cap Hit: $4.5M | Term Left: 1 | Age: 30

The Flyers aren't fully selling, but given the demands of the market, they are seriously entertaining calls for some of their remaining defensemen, including Braydon Coburn. He has one-year left on his deal, which raises his price tag and the Flyers are looking to acquire a high draft pick and a good young player for him.

Zbynek Michalek, D
Cap Hit: $4M | Term Left: 0 | Age: 32

It's a fire sale in Arizona, everyone must go. Michalek will add value to any club's blueline and teams in need of a right-handed shooting defenseman should give Coyotes GM Don Maloney a call.

Michalek is available and should command a young player/prospect and a draft pick.

James Wisniewski, D
Cap Hit: $5.5M | Term Left: 2 | Age: 31

Speculation has mounted over Wisniewski's future with the Blue Jackets, especially after he was a healthy scratch a week prior to the trade deadline.

Wisniewski is being shopped, but has a no-movement clause and will have a say in where he ends up, if the Blue Jackets trade him.

Cam Atkinson, RW
Cap Hit: $1.15M | Term Left: 0 | Age: 25

The Blue Jackets are looking to tinker with their roster a little bit, but aren't in full-blown sell mode. Columbus wants to tweak its roster for next season, as they believe they've got the goods to compete for a playoff spot. If it weren't for so many injuries, they'd likely be battling now. Atkinson is on the block as the club aims to upgrade its roster for 2015-16.

Erik Cole, LW
Cap Hit: $4.5M | Term Left: 0 | Age: 36

The Stars do not plan on signing Cole to a new contract extension, and even though they're battling for a playoff spot in the West, they're looking to trade Cole before the deadline. Cole has a limited no-trade clause and will have a say in where he ends up, if moved, but all signs point to him being dealt.

Loui Eriksson, RW/LW
Cap Hit: $4.25M | Term Left: 1 | Age: 29

The Bruins are looking to shed salary in order to make other moves to improve their roster, and Eriksson appears to be the odd man out.

Bruins GM Peter Chiarelli has been dangling Eriksson, who could also be packaged in a larger trade as Boston looks to acquire a top-line scorer.

Not traded
Curtis Glencross, RW
Cap Hit: $2.55M | Term Left: 0 | Age: 32

The Flames and Glencross have been trying to work out a new contract, but they appear to have hit a wall.

Glencross has submitted a list of teams he will waive his no-trade clause for, and the Flames are actively fielding calls for him. He'd like to go to a Stanley Cup contender.

Chris Stewart, RW
Cap Hit: $4.15M | Term Left: 0 | Age: 27

Stewart's value has dropped, but that doesn't mean the Sabres are willing to give him away. The team expects to trade him, and they want a prospect and a draft pick in return. Teams have balked at the asking price, so far, but with the trade deadline approaching, one club might give into Buffalo's demands.

Mike Green, D
Cap Hit: $6.083M | Term Left: 0 | Age: 29

Green's situation in D.C. appears to have changed, slightly. The Capitals are willing to move him, but they do not want to trade him for draft picks and prospects. Washington plans on making a run this season and GM Brian MacLellan only plans on trading Green in larger, hockey-like trade. It could still happen by the deadline, otherwise the Caps will take their chances.

Not traded
Andrew Ference, D
Cap Hit: $3.25M | Term Left: 2 | Age: 35

Things haven't gone the way Ference had hoped in Edmonton. The team has continuously struggled, and he has been frustrated with the way the season has gone, which has led to teams inquiring about his availability. Ference owns a full no-movement clause and will decide where he ends up, if traded. There are no guarantees he'll be moved, but teams are calling.

Not traded
Mark Letestu, C
Cap Hit: $1.25M | Term Left: 0 | Age: 30

The Blue Jackets aren't selling off a number of assets, but it appears Letestu could be had for the right price.

Contract talks between Letestu's agent and the team haven't really begun, and it appears the club is more interested in fielding trade offers for him than getting him locked up to a new deal.

Not traded
Chris Phillips, D
Cap Hit: $2.25M | Term Left: 1 | Age: 36

The Senators have spoken to Phillips about his future with the club, and it's starting to sound like his tenure in Ottawa could be coming to an end. A number of playoff contenders are calling the Sens about Phillips, and that number will rise as the days progress. He is battling injury, though, which might prevent a deal from happening by the deadline.

Not traded
Jay McClement, C
Cap Hit: $1M | Term Left: 0 | Age: 32

Hurricanes GM Ron Francis is quite actively these days, as he's been fielding calls for a number of his players, including McClement.

McClement is expected to be traded by the deadline, as he won't be signing a new contract with Carolina before March 2.

Jan Hejda, D
Cap Hit: $3.25M | Term Left: 0 | Age: 36

Colorado plans on trading veteran defenseman Jan Hejda by the March 2 trade deadline, and the asking price isn't overly high.

The Avalanche would like to get a draft pick for Hejda, who will be an unrestricted free agent this summer.

  Not traded
Martin Erat, RW/LW
Cap Hit: $4.5M | Term Left: 0 | Age: 33

Erat is an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season and while he owns a no-movement clause, he would be willing to waive it if it meant playing on a Stanley Cup contender. He will likely bring in a draft pick or two for Arizona.

Not traded
Michael Ryder, RW
Cap Hit: $3.5M | Term Left: 0 | Age: 34

The Devils have multiple assets to move by the deadline, and Ryder is one of them. He's a UFA this July will likely command a draft pick or two.

There are teams looking for secondary scoring depth and Ryder would fill that void.

Teams Reportedly Showing Interest Status
Evander Kane, LW
Cap Hit: $5.25M | Term Left: 3 | Age: 23

The relationship between the Winnipeg Jets and winger Evander Kane is all but over. While there are no guarantees a move is made by the trade deadline, his name is being discussed around the NHL and will continue to be until the deadline. The Jets can wait to move him in the summer, though, unless they get an offer they deem acceptable now.

Andrej Sekera, D
Cap Hit: $2.75M | Term Left: 0 | Age: 28

There are a number of teams interested in acquiring Sekera from the Hurricanes. Contract negotiations between the team and Sekera's agent haven't resulted in any progress, and he will now be moved by the trade deadline. The price tag is high, and a move could be made in the days leading up to the deadline.

Cody Franson, D
Cap Hit: $3.3M | Term Left: 0 | Age: 27

The Leafs are speaking with Franson's agent about his future with the club, but it sounds like he'll test the waters as an unrestricted free agent July 1.

He's a highly coveted defenseman and several clubs would love to get their hands on him. The Leafs will be asking for a young stud and a draft pick for Franson.

Jiri Tlusty, RW/LW
Cap Hit: $2.95M | Term Left: 0 | Age: 26

The Hurricanes have been unable to come to terms on a new contract with Tlusty, and now plan on trading him by the deadline. Carolina wanted to get him inked to a new extension, but he could cash in big on the open market this summer. Hurricanes GM Ron Francis is looking to retool for next season and wants top assets coming back for Tlusty.

Jaromir Jagr, RW
Cap Hit: $3.5M | Term Left: 0 | Age: 43

It looks more and more like the Devils will trade Jagr prior to the deadline, and the usual suspects are the teams primarily interested in him.

Jagr's still got it, and giving him the opportunity to play for the Stanley Cup again will be the extra motivation he needs to keep up his solid season.

Daniel Winnik, RW
Cap Hit: $1.3M | Term Left: 0 | Age: 29

A few teams have already pitched offers for Winnik, who can become an unrestricted free agent this summer, but the Leafs are waiting it out.

Trade talks should pick up soon, as the trade deadline approaches, but with the Leafs nearing a fire sale, Winnik is likely on his way out of town.

Tomas Fleischmann, RW/LW
Cap Hit: $4.5 | Term Left: 0 | Age: 30

The Panthers have been dangling Fleischmann as bait since last season, but have not come across a deal they'd pull the trigger on.

Florida could look to move him to a Stanley Cup contender if they can replace his spot in the lineup via another deal for a young, top-six forward.

Drew Stafford, LW/RW
Cap Hit: $4M | Term Left: 0 | Age: 29

Stafford has struggled the last couple of seasons, but jumping over to a playoff contender might allow him to elevate his game.

Teams in need of secondary scoring depth will be calling Sabres GM Tim Murray about Stafford's availability.

Mike Santorelli, C
Cap Hit: $1.5M | Term Left: 0 | Age: 29

Santorelli has had a solid season for the Maple Leafs, and while the team could try to re-sign him, a number of other clubs are calling about his availability.

He's set to become a UFA this summer, and if he's moved, the Leafs will want a draft pick or two, or a high-end prospect.

Sean Bergenheim, LW
Cap Hit: $2.75M | Term Left: 0 | Age: 31

Bergenheim has been frustrated in Florida and after being scratched a number of times, he's had enough. The 31-year-old has asked to be traded, and is expected to be dealt prior to the trade deadline. Panthers GM Dale Tallon is looking to move him out of town, following the request, and Bergenheim's agent told TFP they're hoping for a deal "sooner than later."

(Alphabetical Order)

Teams Reportedly Showing Interest Status
Jordan Eberle, RW
Cap Hit: $6M | Term Left: 4 | Age: 24

The Oilers are exploring various major moves, some of which include Eberle, but it seems unlikely a move will be made prior to the trade deadline -- unless, of course, talks significant pick up. Eberle, or another member of Edmonton's young core, could be moved in the off-season, if a deal isn't made by the deadline.

  Not yet traded
Phil Kessel, RW
Cap Hit: $8M | Term Left: 7 | Age: 27

While a trade, if one happens, is more likely to occur in the off-season, the way teams are pursuing this year's trade deadline makes it possible the Leafs move Kessel if the right offer comes along.

Toronto's in no rush to trade him, despite his feuds with the media, but will gladly listen to offers.

Not yet traded
Vincent Lecavalier, RW/C
Cap Hit: $4.5M | Term Left: 3 | Age: 34

The Flyers have tried to move Lecavalier all season, but haven't been able to find anyone interested in taking on his contract.

There's no doubt Lecavalier has lost a step or two, but under the right circumstances, some team officials believed he can still be a dominant player.

-- Not yet traded
David Legwand, C
Cap Hit: $3M | Term Left: 1 | Age: 34

The Senators had hoped for a better season when they signed Legwand in the off-season. That hasn't been the case and now he appears to be on his way out of Ottawa. Legwand is being dangled as trade bait, and with one-year left on his deal, the Sens can ask for a little bit more than if he were a short-term rental player.

-- Not yet traded
Marc Methot, D
Cap Hit: $3M | Term Left: 0 | Age: 29

The Senators want to sign Methot to an extension, and he wants to stay in Ottawa, but the numbers have to make sense. As TFP Senior Writer Dennis Bernstein recently reported, if the Sens come in with an offer around five-years at $5 million per season, that should be enough to get him locked up. If not, he'll be traded by the deadline.

Tyler Myers, D
Cap Hit: $5M | Term Left: 4 | Age: 25

It's going to take one heck of an offer for the Sabres to part with Myers, that much is clear. But it wouldn't be trade deadline season without keeping him on our list, so he'll get honorable mentions.

There are teams with the necessary assets to make a move, but they've yet to step up to the plate.

Chris Neil, RW
Cap Hit: $1.9M | Term Left: 1 | Age: 35

The Sens are looking to tweak their roster, and that could result in the team trading long-time fan favorite Neil. Like Phillips, he has one-year left on his contract, which should increase his return, if dealt. He has a limited no-trade clause and wants to stay in Ottawa. He did, however, fracture his finger he won't be back until mid-March, which might affect any trade

Not yet traded
Antti Niemi, G
Cap Hit: $3.8M | Term Left: 0 | Age: 31

Niemi's tenure with the San Jose Sharks is coming to an end. Whether he's dealt by the trade deadline or left to walk as an unrestricted free agent this summer, the chances of Niemi suiting up for the Sharks next season is slim. San Jose has been shopping him since last summer and could move him by March 2's deadline.

-- Not yet traded
Mike Richards, C
Cap Hit: $5.75M | Term Left: 5 | Age: 30

The Kings tried to trade Richards prior to sending him down to the AHL, but were unable to come to terms on a deal. The approached Toronto about Dion Phaneuf, but the Leafs were not interested in the veteran forward as a centerpiece in that move.

Not yet traded
Bryce Salvador, D
Cap Hit: $3.167M | Term Left: 0 | Age: 39

New Jersey's captain could be packing his bags soon after he returns from injury. The Devils expect him back in the lineup in the near future, which would give teams an opportunity to get a better look at him prior to the deadline. Salvador is a serviceable defenseman who would added sound depth to a Stanley Cup contender's blueline.

Not yet traded
Brayden Schenn, RW/C
Cap Hit: $2.5M | Term Left: 1 | Age: 23

The Flyers have dangled Schenn all season, as they look to package him for an upgrade up front. Schenn's on pace for a career high in assists and points, but the Flyers expected more out of him this season. With plenty of control over Schenn, as a result of his age and contract status, the Flyers won't rush into a deal and could wait until the off-season to pull the trigger.

-- Not yet traded
Cam Ward, G
Cap Hit: $6.3M | Term Left: 1 | Age: 30

The Hurricanes explored the possibility of trading Ward last season and in the summer, but decided against it. Ward has a no-trade clause and will dictate where he ends up, though a change of scenery might prove beneficial for his career. His options, though, appear to be limited, which could result in a trade occurring this summer.
