Jets ink Ehlers to 7-year deal

The Winnipeg Jets have signed forward Nikolaj Ehlers to a seven-year, $42 million contract extension.

Ehlers, 21, was drafted ninth-overall by the Jets in the first round in the 2014 NHL Draft and is entering his third year with the club.

Last season, he finished third on the Jets and tied for 30th in the NHL with 64 points (25G, 39A) in 82 games.

The native of Aalborg, Denmark also skated for the Danes in the 2017 IIHF World Hockey Championships in Cologne and Paris where he had four assists and 18 penalty minutes in seven games.

Ehlers reached both the 100-game and 100-point milestones in 2016-17 and he has accumulated 40 goals and 62 assists for 102 points in 154 career regular season games.
