If the Winnipeg Jets end up trading Mathieu Perreault before tomorrow's 3pm ET trade deadline, it would come as a shock to the 29-year-old center.
Perreault has been the subject of multiple trade rumors lately, and with a four-year extension kicking in next season, he feels moving him doesn't add up.
"Given the fact that I just signed an extension this summer," Perreault told reportes earlier today. "To me, it wouldn't make much sense to get traded. But like I said, it's out of my control. If it happens, it happens."
Perreault has a $3 million cap hit this season and will see that increase to $4.125 million once his new deal kicks in July 1.
The Jets are also taking calls on winger Drew Stafford, who is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent July 1 and is expected to be moved.
