Thorburn signs 3-year, $3.6 million deal

The Winnipeg Jets have re-signed pending unrestricted free agent forward Chris Thorburn to a three-year, $3.6 million contract.

Thorburn, 31, tallied two goals and nine assists for 11 points, along with 65 penalty minutes, in 55 games with the Jets this past season.

The native of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, has played in 523 career NHL regular-season games with the Buffalo Sabres, Pittsburgh Penguins and Atlanta Thrashers/Jets, and has accumulated 36 goals and 61 assists for 97 points, along with 656 penalty minutes.

Thorburn was originally drafted by the Sabres in the second-round, 50th overall, of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.
