Dreger indicated that Maurice wants to spend some time with his family, who did not accompany him to Winnipeg when he took over as coach earlier in the season.
It has been widely speculated that the Jets want to sign Maurice to an extension, and talks should formally begin in the next week or two.
Meanwhile, Jets GM Kevin Cheveldayoff and his staff will be discussing the future of the franchise and outlining what possible moves there are to be made.
It's believed the Jets will try to re-sign pending unrestricted free agent forwards Olli Jokinen and Chris Thorburn, though Devin Setoguchi may be left to test the market July 1.
The Jets must also decide what to do with goaltender Ondrej Pavelec, who struggled at times throughout the season. He has three-years left on his contract.
Fellow netminder Al Montoya, set to become an unrestricted free agent this summer, may also be offered an extension.
