Enstrom signs with Red Bull Salzburg
TheFourthPeriod.com

Winnipeg Jets defenseman Tobias Enstrom has opted against playing in Sweden during the NHL lockout and has instead joined EC Red Bull Salzburg of the EBEL.

Enstrom becomes the eighth NHL player to sign in the Austrian hockey league, joining the likes of Thomas Vanek, Tyler Myers, Michael Grabner and Sam Gagner.

The 27-year-old registered six goals and 27 assists for 33 points in 62 games with the Jets last season.

Enstrom is the first member of the Jets to sign overseas in October. Sniper Evander Kane signed with Dinamo Minsk of the KHL on Sept. 28, center Nik Antropov joined HC Barys (KHL) on Sept. 19, and Ondrej Pavelec signed with Ocelari Trinec of the Czech Extraliga and right wing Alexei Ponikarovsky joined Donbass of the KHL on Sept. 16.

The NHL and the NHLPA remained in constant communication over the weekend, in an attempt to come to terms on a new Collective Bargaining Agreement.

The NHL made a new proposal last Tuesday, which was countered by three proposals on Thursday, all of which were rejected in less than 15 minutes.

The NHL has imposed a deadline of Oct. 25 to get a new CBA done in order to preserve a full 82-game regular-season.
