The Jets aren't likely to make a blockbuster trade or acquire rental players, although the club is looking to obtain a few more goal scorers and/or gritty forwards that could help them for the present and future.
Cheveldayoff is expected to be taking lots of calls from the league's others GMs as the Jets roster currently includes eight pending unrestricted free agents and another four restricted free agents.
Many of the pending UFAs, which include netminder Chris Mason, forwards Jim Slater, Tanner Glass and Kyle Wellwood and blueliner Johnny Oduya , could draw some interest on the trade market.
However, the majority of them are likely to candidates for contract extensions or could be brought back on new deals over the summer; therefore not all of them will be moved.
The players that would be dealt are expected to fetch some combination of, draft picks, prospects or players that could help the club move forward right now.
