Ovechkin negotiates with Dynamo
TheFourthPeriod.com

Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin is expected to negotiate a contract with Dynamo Moscow of the KHL today.

Dmitry Chesnokov of Yahoo! Sports first reported the news.

However, Ovechkin, who turns 27 today, has also been in contact with CSKA Red Army club and GM Sergei Fedorov, discussing the possibility of playing there during the NHL lockout.

Ovechkin began playing with Dynamo Moscow at the age of 16, making his professional debut in the 2001–02 season. He spent three seasons there prior to being drafted first overall by the Caps in the 2004 NHL Draft.

Due to the 2004-05 NHL lockout, Ovechkin remained with Dynamo for an additional season.

In 78 games with the Capitals last season, Ovechkin collected 38 goals and 27 assists for 65 points.
