Washington goalie Tomas Vokoun hopes to be playing in the NHL again next season, even though it likely won't be with the Capitals.
Vokoun is set to become an unrestricted free agent July 1 and the belief is that the Capitals won't offer him a new contract, allowing him to test the waters.
It has been widely speculated that Vokoun would explore offers from the KHL in Russia, but his agent, Allan Walsh, confirmed via Twitter that his client's preference is to stay in North America.
"Tomas Vokoun has decided not to accept an offer from a KHL team at the present time," Walsh wrote. "He is solely focused on playing in the NHL next year."
Vokoun, 35, posted a 25-17-2 record, with a 2.51 goals-against-average and a .917 save percentage in 48 games with the Capitals last season, where he earned $1.5 million.
