"Any time you get an opportunity to be a head coach, you're interested," Berube told CSNWashington.com. "My situation is good here. No one has contacted me about it. We'll see what happens."
After 1,054 career NHL games as a player, Berube retired in 2003-04 and became an assistant coach with the AHL's Philadelphia Phantoms. He moved into the head coaching role in 2006, and quickly joined the Flyers as an interim assistant that same season, before returning to the Phantoms the in 2007. He re-joined the Flyers as an assistant coach in 2008 under Peter Laviolette.
The Capitals don't have a timeline in place as to when they plan on hiring a new bench boss, and it's uncertain if Berube is on their radar.
Berube played with former Capitals head coach Dale Hunter from 1993-99 with the Capitals.
