"I don't know how this will affect anything six weeks from now," McPhee told CSN Washington. "We'll just have to see."
McPhee is reluctant to make a move since he is keeping an eye on the progress of rookie defensemen Dmitry Orlov and Tomas Kundratek will make in the coming weeks.
"It's interesting how things go," McPhee added. "Mike went down early, we gave Orlov a chance and he's exceeded our expectations. We thought he would need a full year in Hershey, and he's sort of expedited his development process and he's playing very well for us. Kundratek is in the same sort of situation right now. We'll see how he comes along."
In 27 games this season, Orlov has collected one goal and seven assists for eight points, while Kundratek has yet to record and point and is even in four games.
If their development improve and Green's rehab moves along as planned, McPhee might redirect his trade deadline attention from the blueline to the wing, where his club could use one more gritty forward who can bring some offense.
