The Washington Capitals will be looking to retool their blueline this off-season and general manager George McPhee is already weighing his options.
According to the Edmonton Journal, the Capitals will not be re-signing veteran defenseman Joe Corvo, who will become an unrestricted free agent July 1.
Corvo was acquired at the trade deadline this season and earned $2.625 million.
The Washington Post reported this past week on its website that the Capitals are not interested in Ottawa Senators rearguard Anton Volchenkov, who can also become a UFA next month.
However, sources indicate that Volchenkov is indeed among the defensemen on Washington's radar.
The Journal suggests the Senators may trade Volchenkov's negotiating rights before July 1.
