Capitals center Michael Nylander has been rumored to be playing in Russia next season, however his agent told the Washington Post that's simply not the case.
According to a report out of Russia, Nylander would be joining a KHL club next season.
Bill Zito, Nylander's agent, flat out denied the claim.
"For a year I've been hearing the [rumors]," Zito told the Post. "Michael called me a couple times and asked, 'Have you talked to these guys?' In the past it's been Yaroslavl, then it was Moscow, then it was St. Pete. We haven't spoken to them, and anyway, he has a contract with Washington."
It has been widely reported that the Capitals are looking to trade Nylander and his $5.5 million salary. He was almost dealt to the Chicago Blackhawks last season, but the deal fell through.
Nylander has a no-movement clause and would have to approve any trade the Capitals try to make.
