The Washington Capitals tried to trade veteran center Michael Nylander at the deadline, but weren't able to find any takers.
According to various sources, the Capitals tried to move Nylander for a good portion of the season but came up empty.
The Edmonton Journal is reporting the Capitals will likely buy out Nylander's contract this summer.
Nylander, 36, has two-year and $8 million remaining on his current contract.
The Capitals would have to pay Nylander two-thirds of his salary over four-years, and that figure will count against the salary cap.
