According to the Edmonton Journal, the Washington Capitals have offered veteran center Michael Nylander to the Chicago Blackhawks.
Nylander, who played for the Hawks for a little over three seasons, has a no-trade clause and would have to accept a move to any team.
The Journal claims the Blackhawks rejected the offer after the Capitals asked for Dustin Byfuglien in exchange.
In 16 games with the Capitals this season, Nylander has registered two goals and seven assists.
From the Editor:
Nylander said at the start of the season that he has no interest in waiving his no-trade clause. Granted, that was then and things could change, but it doesn't look like the deal will happen anyway. The Hawks like their core of young talent and it would take a special offer for them to move someone like Byfuglien. I was in Chicago for the last few days covering the Hawks and while I heard some whispers - they'd still like to get their hands on Brendan Shanahan - but other than that, there doesn't appear to be anything imminent. -- David Pagnotta
