The Vancouver Canucks have acquired defenseman Erik Gudbranson and a 2016 fifth-round draft pick from the Florida Panthers in exchange for center Jared McCann, a 2016 second-round draft pick and a 2016 fourth-round draft pick.

Gudbranson, 24, picked up two goals and seven assists for nine points and 49 penalty minutes in 64 games with the Panthers this season. The Ottawa native ranked third on the Panthers in hits (150), fourth in blocked shots (73) and fourth in average ice time per game (20:06).

In 309 career NHL regular-season games with the Panthers, Gudbranson has accumulated 11 goals and 32 assists for 43 points.

He was originally drafted third-overall by Florida in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.

McCann, 19, tallied nine goals and nine assists for 18 points and 32 penalty minutes in 69 games with the Canucks this season, his first in the NHL.

The Canucks drafted McCann 24th overall in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.
