Canucks in need of tough, scoring winger
TheFourthPeriod.com

With training camp set to open in just over three weeks, the Canucks find themselves with a big hole on the wing, the Vancouver Province reports.

Forward David Booth, who would have been bought out had he not been injured, still hasn't been medically cleared and might not be ready for the start of camp.

According to the Province, the Canucks need to add a physical, offensive-minded winger, but their options are tremendously limited.

Young winger Nicklas Jensen could make a case for a roster spot in September, but the paper suggests the club needs more in order to balance the scoring.

With around $5 million in available salary cap space, and part of that expected to be use to re-sign restricted free agent defenseman Chris Tanev, Canucks GM Mike Gillis will have to be creative in how he obtains extra fire-power.

The Canucks could look to re-sign unrestricted free agent Mason Raymond, but the Province claims the team hasn't shown any interest.

Gillis had also been shopping Raymond during the regular-season, prior to the NHL trade deadline.
