Canucks fielding calls for Schneider
TheFourthPeriod.com

The Vancouver Canucks aren't actively shopping goalie Cory Schneider, a team source told TFP, but they aren't turning away phone calls for him.

Canucks GM Mike Gillis has been trying to move veteran netminder Roberto Luongo, but has started to weigh out the possibility of trading Schneider, instead.

Teams have called and asked about Schneider's availability, a team source confirmed.

Darren Dreger of TSN first reported that teams had shown interest in Schneider.

The Canucks' preference is to trade Luongo -- the team is also considering the possibility of buying him out -- but if they receive an outstanding offer for Schneider, they'll seriously consider it.

Schneider, 27, posted a 17-9-4 record in 30 regular season games with the Canucks this past season.

According to Dreger, the Canucks want a first-round pick and a top prospect in exchange for Schneider.
