Contract talks between the Vancouver Canucks and defenseman Christian Ehrhoff's camp have been temporarily put on hold for a few weeks.
During last night's broadcast of The Hotstove on CBC, panelist Pierre LeBrun, also of ESPN, indicated that negotiations have hit a stalemate and will pick up again later in the season.

The Canucks presented Ehrhoff with an offer, believed to be between $4 million and $5 million per season, which was rejected, and Ehrhoff's agent, Rick Curran, submitted a counter offer, which was believed to be shot down.
Ehrhoff, who has a current cap hit of $3.1 million, is in the final year of his contract and can become an unrestricted free agent after the season.
It's presumed Ehrhoff could command $5 million, per year, or more on the open market, which is a reason why a new deal isn't signed yet.
