The have signed unrestricted free agent defenseman Mathieu Schneider. In keeping with club policy, terms were not disclosed.
Schneider, 40, split the 2008-09 season between the Atlanta Thrashers and Montreal Canadiens. In 67 games, he recorded nine goals, 23 assists and 64 penalty minutes.
The 19-year NHL veteran has recorded 221 goals and 513 assists for 734 points, with 1,229 penalty minutes in 1,264 career games with eight NHL teams.
Schneider was originally selected 44th overall in the third round of the 1987 NHL Entry Draft by the Canadiens.
