The Vancouver Canucks have signed unrestricted free agent right wing Mikael Samuelsson to a three-year contract worth $2.5 million per season.
Samuelsson, 32, registered 19 goals and 21 assists for 40 points in 81 games with the Detroit Red Wings last season.
In 466 career NHL games Samuelsson has accumulated 86 goals and 122 assists for 208 points, with 244 penalty minutes.
The Mariefred, Sweden was originally drafted by the San Jose Sharks 145th overall in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft. He captured a Stanley Cup championship with the Red Wings in 2007-08.
