Canucks claim Wellwood

TheFourthPeriod.com

The Vancouver Canucks have claimed restricted free agent centre Kyle Wellwood off waivers from the Toronto Maple Leafs.

In 59 games with the Leafs last season, Wellwood tallied eight goals and 13 assists.

In order to keep his rights, the Canucks merely have to extend Wellwood a qualifying offer.

The 25-year-old has played in 189 career NHL games and has accumulated 31 goals and 77 assists for 108 points.

A solid addition for the Canucks. Wellwood, when healthy, is a good talent and should do well in Vancouver.
