Canucks tried to get Cammalleri

TheFourthPeriod.com

The Vancouver Canucks were among the teams interested in Los Angeles Kings' center Mike Cammalleri, but weren't able to seal the deal.

"I thought we were close to getting him," Canucks GM Mike Gillis said. "The relationship he and I have, I thought maybe we could get him signed to a longer-term contract. But it didn't work out and we'll move on."

The Canucks tried to make a few moves, but nothing materialized. Gillis was supposedly entertaining the thought of trading Henrik and Daniel Sedin, but the Canuck's GM vehemently denied those reports.

Vancouver will be active over the summer, both on the trade front and free agency.

Captain Markus Naslund will test the market, while center Brendan Morrison will not be back next season.
