Canucks trade Cooke for Pettinger

  The Vancouver Canucks Senior have traded left wing Matt Cookie to the Washington Capitals for left wing Matt Pettinger.

Pettinger, 27, joins the Canucks from the Capitals where he has recorded seven points (2 goals, 5 assists) and 25 penalty minutes in 56 games played in 2007-08.

The Edmonton native has spent seven seasons with Washington, registering 52 goals, 47 assists, 99 points and 169 penalty minutes in 334 career games.

Cooke, 29, has spent all nine of his NHL seasons in Vancouver. He heads to Washington with seven goals and nine assists in 61 games this year.

   
The Belleville, Ontario, native has played in 566 career games and has scored 83 goals and dished out 120 career assists.
