Leafs chatting with Komarov

The Toronto Maple Leafs are trying to sign forward Leo Komarov, who spent this past season playing for Dynamo Moscow of the KHL.

Komarov, 27, wants to return to the NHL, and the National Post reports the current restricted free agent is looking for a multi-year contract.

The Maple Leafs have first crack at re-signing Komarov, but if they're unable to come to terms on a deal by July 1, he will become an unrestricted free agent.

Komarov's agent, Mark Gandler, would not discuss specifics, but the Post suggests his client wants to be paid close to the $2 million he received in the KHL.

Citing a source within the Leafs organization, the Post believes the chances of Toronto re-signing Komarov are "50-50."

In 52 games with Moscow this season, Komarov registered 12 goals and 22 assists for 34 points.
