"I definitely will [be shopping the pick], especially this year," he explained. "We had a couple of nibbles the day after we won [the lottery]. There were a couple guys calling to bust my chops, asking 'what are you going to do?' And that's fine. It's a good thing."
With the Leafs inevitable off-season changes, Damien Cox of the Toronto Star speculates that the club could potentially entertain the idea of trading for the Panthers pick.
Cox suggests defenseman Jake Gardiner or center Nazem Kadri could be seen as trade bait in exchange for the first overall pick.
The Leafs currently have the No. 8 pick in this year's draft.
