Leafs searching for center

The Toronto Maple Leafs are actively scouring the market for a centerman to join their team as soon as possible, as injuries keep mounting.

With Tyler Bozak joining Dave Bolland back on the injury reserve list, Leafs GM Dave Nonis is working the phones, the Ottawa Sun reports.

The Sun claims the Leafs spoke to the Dallas Stars about center Vernon Fiddler, who has since rescinded his demand for a trade, but talks broke off.

With a thin market out there, Nonis might have to get creative in trying to complete a deal.

The Leafs continue to take calls for defenseman Jake Gardiner, but it's uncertain if Nonis is willing to move him -- and if he does, the deal would likely be significant.
