Kadri inks two-year contract

The Toronto Maple Leafs have re-signed restricted free agent center Nazem Kadri to a two-year, $5.8 million contract.

Kadri, 22, was originally looking for a long-term deal, but accepted the two-year agreement earlier today.

In 48 games with the Leafs last season, Kadri registered 18 goals and 26 asssits for 44 points.

He ranked second on the team in goals (tie), powerplay goals (5-tie), assists, points, plus/minus (+15) and third in shots (107).

The native of London, Ontario recorded two hat-tricks and 11 multiple-point games in the 2012-13 season.

Entering his fourth professional season, he has accumulated 26 goals and 37 assists for 63 points in 99 career regular season games with Toronto.

Kadri was the Leafs' first choice, seventh overall, in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.
