Leafs re-sign Fraser to 1-year deal

The Toronto Maple Leafs have re-signed restricted free agent defenseman Mark Fraser to a one-year, $1.275 million contract, avoiding salary arbitration.

Fraser's arbitration hearing was scheduled for later today.

In 45 games with the Leafs this past season, Fraser recorded eight assists, 85 penalty minutes and a team-high plus-18 rating.

The 26-year-old native of Ottawa has played in 143 career NHL regular-season games with the New Jersey Devils and Leafs, and has accumulated three goals, 13 assists and 171 penalty minutes.

Fraser was originally drafted by the Devils in the third-round (84th overall) of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.
