Leafs to buy out Komisarek

Mike Komisarek's days with the Toronto Maple Leafs organization are coming to an end, as the team plans on buying out the veteran defenseman.

According to TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger, the Leafs plan on buying out Komisarek once teams are permitted to do so.

Teams are allowed to start buying out players 48 hours after the conclusion of the Stanley Cup Final and through July 4.

Komisarek, 31, has one-year left on a five-year, $22.5 million deal he signed in 2009. He's set to earn $3.5 million next season, but his annual cap hit is $4.5 million.

Komisarek was limited to just four games with the Leafs this past season. He tallied one goal, four assists and 41 pintsin 45 games with the club last season.

The native of West Islip, New York, was originally drafted seventh overall by the Montreal Canadiens in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.
