Primeau wants back on Leafs

Veteran forward Wayne Primeau wants to return to the NHL this season and his preference is to re-sign with the Maple Leafs, the Toronto Sun reports.

Primeau, 34, skated in 59 games with the Leafs last season, registering three goals, five assists and 35 penalty minutes.

"I still feel I can play and contribute to a team," Primeau told the Sun. "Hopefully someone steps forward and gives me a chance.

"My ultimate wish is to come back to Toronto for another season and be a veteran (presence) to help the younger guys. But it seems to be looking dimmer and dimmer as the days go on."

The 15-year veteran, who has played in 774 career NHL games, does not want to spend time in the AHL this coming year.

"I talk to my agent pretty frequently and while nothing is set in stone, I think there's a couple of teams interested," Primeau said.
