The Toronto Maple Leafs have decided against trading veteran defenseman Tomas Kaberle for the time being, claiming the offers they received weren't satisfactory to them.
In a statement released on the Leafs' website, GM Brian Burke confirmed that several offers came across the team's table.
"The hockey club confirms this evening that Tomas Kaberle remains a Leaf," Burke stated. "While a number of Clubs made offers to trade for Tomas, none of them reflected Tomas's value to our team.
"I understand a period like this is stressful to the player, and we are pleased that there is a resolution, and we can all continue to prepare for the coming season."
Various reports have linked teams like Columbus, Dallas, Los Angeles and Buffalo to showing interest in Kaberle.
Kaberle, 32, has one-year remaining on his current contract, which includes a no-trade clause. The Leafs had until 11:59:59 ET on Aug. 15 to trade him, without requiring his consent.
While it's still possible for the Leafs to trade Kaberle, they now require his acceptance.
