The Toronto Maple Leafs have signed unrestricted free agent forward Colby Armstrong to a three-year, $9 million contract.
Armstrong, 27, recorded 15 goals and 14 assists in 79 games with Atlanta last season.
The native of Lloydminster, Saskatchewan was originally Pittsburgh's first choice, 21st overall, in the 2001 Entry Draft. Armstrong was traded to the Thrashers by Pittsburgh with Erik Christensen, Angelo Esposito and Pittsburgh’s first round draft choice (Daulton Leveille) in the 2008 Entry Draft for Marian Hossa and Pascal Dupuis on February 26, 2008.
