Maple Leafs ready for trade deadline
TheFourthPeriod.com

Maple Leafs GM Brian Burke expected to be very "busy" in the days leading up to Wednesday's 3pm ET trade deadline, reports the Toronto Sun.

The Leafs are expected to be both buyers and sellers this week, and could trade the likes of forwards Alexei Ponikarovsky, Lee Stempniak, Wayne Primeau and defenceman Garnet Exelby.

With Burke running Team USA at the Olympics, Dave Nonis, the Leafs' Senior VP of Hockey Operations, has been handling the majority of the trade talk.

According to the Sun, one team has already offered the Leafs a second-round draft pick and a prospect for Ponikarovsky.

The Pittsburgh Penguins, Nashville Predators and Phoenix Coyotes are among the teams reportedly interested in Ponikarovsky, while the Buffalo Sabres have been linked to Stempniak.
