Maple Leafs GM Brian Burke and his staff are believed to be aggressively scouring the league trying to find a trade partner or two.
According to various reports, the Leafs are willing to add a high-priced player to help a team with some cap relief.
It's believed the Leafs are in talks with the Chicago Blackhawks for defenseman Brent Sopel, and CBC reported Saturday night that they may be willing to add Sopel if the Hawks add a high draft pick.
Blackhawks assistant general manager Kevin Cheveldayoff and scout Ryan Stewart attended last night's game against the Washington Capitals.
In total, 12 teams had representation at the Leafs game last night; Anaheim, Boston, Calgary, Chicago, Ottawa, the New York Rangers, Phoenix, Pittsburgh, San Jose, St. Louis and Vancouver.
The Leafs have also been scouting the Ducks this season, while the Coyotes are believed to be looking for help at both ends of the rink.
