Leafs trade Antropov, Moore and Petiot, claim Gerber and Reitz

The Toronto Maple Leafs were very busy on trade deadline day, making three moves and claiming two players off waivers.

In the first deal, the Leafs traded center Nik Antropov to the New York Rangers for a 2009 second round draft pick and a 2009 conditional draft pick.

In the second trade, the Leafs dealt forward Dominic Moore to the Buffalo Sabres for a 2009 second round pick, previously owned by Carolina.

Finally, on the last trade of the day, the Leafs dealt defenseman Richard Petiot to the Tampa Bay Lightning for goaltender Olaf Kolzig, defenseman Jamie Heward, defenseman Andy Rogers and a fourth round draft pick in 2009.

Also today, the Maple Leafs claimed goalie Martin Gerber off re-entry waivers from the Ottawa Senators and forward Eric Reitz off waivers from the New York Rangers.

Antropov, 28, played in 63 games for the Maple Leafs this season registering 21 goals, 25 assists for 46 points with 24 penalty minutes.

In 509 career games with the Maple Leafs over nine seasons (1999 to 2009), the native of Ust-Kamenogorsk, Kazakhstan posted 125 goals, 166 points for 291 points with 477 penalty minutes.

Moore, 27, posted career highs in goals (12), assists (29), points (41) and penalty minutes (69) in 63 games with the Leafs this season. He was claimed off waivers by Toronto from Minnesota January 11, 2008.

Petiot, 26, was originally drafted in the fourth round, 116th overall, by Los Angeles at the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.

Gerber, 34, played in 14 games for Ottawa this season compiling a 4-9-1 record with a 2.86 goals against average, a .899 save percentage and one shutout. In 14 games with Binghamton of the AHL, he earned a 6-7-0 record, a 2.91 goals against average and a .910 save percentage.

The native of Bergdorf, Switzerland, has played in 214 career NHL games for three teams including Anaheim, Carolina and Ottawa. During his NHL career, he has registered a record of 104-73-21. He was originally Anaheim’s 10th pick, 232nd overall, in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.

Reitz, 26, has appeared in 42 games this season with the Rangers and Minnesota Wild.

The Detroit native was originally Minnesota's fifth pick, 170th overall, in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft.
