Maple Leafs continue to wait TheFourthPeriod.com
August's 1st's "soft deadline" passed and unrestricted free agent center Mats Sundin remains uncertain of his playing future.
Sundin's agent, J.P. Barry, told TSN last night that his client "isn't close" to making a decision.
Veterans Steve Yzerman and Joe Nieuwendyk say the Leafs captain should play if he's having any doubts.
"If there's any doubt and guys aren't sure, I think they should be playing," told the Toronto Star. "You can be retired for the rest of your life. You'll know when you're done.
"If you're not 100 per cent certain that you don't want to play anymore, then the decision is that you should be playing."
Barry suggested a decision should come later this month, with as many as six teams hot on Sundin's trail.
"People always told me: 'Play as long as you can,'" Nieuwendyk told the Star.
