Leafs have plenty of needs TheFourthPeriod.com
With so much uncertainty surrounding Mats Sundin's future in the NHL, the Maple Leafs are forced to go on without him.
According to the Toronto Sun, the Leafs are not expected to pursue the likes of Marian Hossa and Bryan Campbell.
Instead, the club is likely to go after the likes of Radim Vrbata, Antti Miettinen, Matt Cooke, Ron Hainsey, Kurt Sauer, Alex Auld and Curtis Joseph.
The Sun claims the Leafs will not seriously look at Sean Avery, who is supposedly asking for around $4 million per year.
According to the Toronto Star, GM Cliff Fletcher's needs include: a top-six forward, a powerplay specialist, a checking forward, a top-four defenseman, and a depth player.
Other potential targets include Kristian Huselius, Patrick Rissmiller and Michael Ryder.
Meanwhile, Sundin will be pursued by the Montreal Canadiens, New York Rangers, Detroit Red Wings and Vancouver Canucks later today.
