Leafs officially introduce Wilson as coach

TheFourthPeriod.com

The Toronto Maple Leafs have officially introduced Ron Wilson as head coach of the team on Tuesday afternoon.

Wilson, 53, signed a four-year contract worth around $6.8 million.

"This is an unbelievably day for me," Wilson said. "The last couple of weeks have been very exciting."

Wilson was fired by the San Jose Sharks after the team failed to advance to the Stanley Cup Finals.

"When you lost your job in this league, you always wonder if you'll get another opportunity," Wilson said.

"I'm the happiest person in the NHL today. I'm fulfilling a dream."

In 1,091 career NHL games as a coach with the Sharks, Washington Capitals and Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, Wilson has compiled a 518-446-127 record.
