Lightning sign Coburn to 3-year extension

The Tampa Bay Lightning has signed defenseman Braydon Coburn to a three-year, $11.1 million contract extension.

Coburn, 30, has played in 60 games with the Lightning this season, recording one goal and nine points to go along with 45 penalty minutes.

The Shaunavon, Saskatchewan native has appeared in 678 career NHL games with the Bolts, Flyers and Atlanta Thrashers, posting 38 goals and 177 points to go along with 558 penalty minutes.

He set career highs for goals (nine), assists (27) and points (36) during the 2007-08 season while with the Flyers.

Coburn was originally selected by the Thrashers in the first round, eighth overall, at the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.
