Veteran goalie Dwayne Roloson replaced Garon, who has registered a .901 save percentage and 2.85 goals-against average in 48 starts this season.
Lightning head coach Guy Boucher gave no further details on the lower-body injury though it was reported that Garon will undergo an MRI on Wednesday to determine its severity.
"Just another episode," Boucher told the Times. "It's one of those years you have to battle through."
If Garon's injury is long-term, Lightning GM Steve Yzerman could claim veteran Marty Turco off waivers from the Boston Bruins, as the 36-year-old free agent, who was signed to a one-year deal due to the injury to backup Tuukka Rask, must first clear waivers before noon Wednesday.
If the injury is considered short term, perhaps AHL Norfolk's Dustin Tokarski or Jaroslav Janus will be called up to join Roloson.
