The Tampa Bay Lightning has re-signed restricted free agent forward Steve Downie to a two-year, $3.7 million contract.
The Lightning has also signed unrestricted free agent defenseman Randy Jones to a one-year deal.
"We are pleased to get Steve under contract today," Lightning GM Steve Yzerman said. "We look forward to him building on the success he had last season and becoming an even bigger part of the team."
Downie, 23, played in 79 games with the Lightning last season, recording 22 goals and 46 points. A native of Newmarket, Ontario, Downie has played in 140 career NHL games with Tampa Bay and the Philadelphia Flyers, registering 31 goals and 64 points.
Downie was originally drafted by Philadelphia in the first round, 29th overall, in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.
Jones has played in 265 career NHL games with the Flyers and the Los Angeles Kings. Last season, he played in 48 games with the Kings, recording five goals and 21 points.
"Randy is a skilled defenseman, capable of playing in all situations on both the right and left side," Yzerman said. "His addition gives us some needed depth on the blue line."
A native of Quispamsis, New Brunswick, Jones signed with Philadelphia as a free agent on July 24, 2003.
